Refusing to let society deem what is necessary for happiness and choosing to live a life bound by nothing, in search for what truly makes me the happiest.  Living simply, spending lots of time on the river, learning new things, following the pull of passions, facing fears, connecting with other wandering souls, fully immersing myself in this human experience, and being free is what it’s about.

The river has become a big piece of my life and who I am. The river is a place I can escape to for comfort, a challenge, to inspire confidence, to see clarity, and find peace. The river is home to my greatest successes, and my most humbling experiences. I’ve realized the fragility of life, but how rewarding it is to live courageously knowing how precious this life really is. On the river, I have cultivated my truest friendships and strengthened my sense of self. The river challenges and quiets my ego, bringing a more fulfilling perspective on life which has bettered all aspects of my life. It speaks of beautiful metaphors that are timeless in their own. The river has brought me closer to the natural world we have gotten so far from. The river has served as my greatest inspirations to actively make a change for the better in this world. As much as I want to live my life unbound, I want the life of rivers to be unbound; rivers to be free to flow, source to sea, supporting all types of river life, healthy eco-systems, and happy people along their banks. So, writing about the river is something I do often. It’s easy to compare life’s ebs and flows to those of a free flowing watershed, but I hope that as I pull metophors from the river, things I write can resonate with my readers.

I also hope that by sharing the positive impacts the river has had on my life and the adventures I’ve had chasing rivers, sharing the river with people to allow them the opportunity to create their very own connection with a river, and sharing the knowledge of dams, will create a strong community in support of keeping rivers free-flowing and encourage people to live a life, unbound.

“And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
